Late Night Medical Care

Wednesday night was a late night for the three of us. Gregg, and Violet, ended up taking me to the emergency room sometime around 2 am. I woke up unable to breathe and felt that the world was spinning madly out of control. Gregg dropped me off at Memorial Herman Hospital and I was amazed to be seen immediately. I was in and out of the ER within two hours. Amazing!

The doctor ordered a chest x-ray and it confirmed my suspicions, I have the beginnings of pneumonia in my right lung. Thankfully, we caught it in it's earliest stages and I am now on antibiotics (z-pac). I was also given medicine for at-home breathing treatments. Between the two medications I had hoped to be feeling better in the next few days. My hopes to feel better by Friday were unrealistic.

If it's possible, I think I actually feel worse. My fever hasn't been out of control which is the only thing in my favor right now. As for my breathing, it is difficult to say the least. There's a constant rattle in my chest and I so do not enjoy gasping for air while having a coughing fit. I enjoy even less seeing the look of concern on Violet's face when one hits. I feel powerless to let her know that I'll be okay when I feel as if I'm coughing up a lung and am wondering myself if I'll get that next breath of air. Thankfully, that next breath of air does comes and I am able to assure Violet that I am indeed okay.

Violet's fever seems to be twittering out. She had a high fever reading this morning but we have been steadily getting lower readings. I'm praying that we're on the downside of Violet's illness and that mine is soon to follow. I am so sick and tired of being sick and tired. I know, an old cliche but it appropriately describes how I am feeling at this point in time.

*Note on the picture: For those of you who are regular visitors of dooce.com , I took this photo last year when Violet turned three. It's very similar to some of the photos that Dooce has been posting recently but honestly this idea was not stolen from her site. And, I posted it because it makes me happy. I need a little happiness right now.

I'm so sorry to hear things are not much better. You hang in there!

I just prayed for you, and won't stop.

And, cute pic.

:)

Thanks Jenni. The prayers are always appreciated.

I liked the pic. too (obviously) and it seems like I'm not the only one who finds beauty in our kids toys. I'm just proud of myself for getting a picture of something before dooce thought of it. lol.
