Pool & Movie Days

It's that time of the year again. Summer. Hot, humid, mosquito fighting, dog days of summer. Okay, it's not all that bad! It is HOT though, that's a given here in the Houston area. But, there are tons of things to do too! Sanity-saving and free things that keeps Violet busy and our wallets intact.

One of Violet's favorites is pool time. The kid takes to water like a fish! She loves the water and would spend every single moment at the pool if given the opportunity. I already have a healed sunburn to testify to that fact. We're at the pool in the early hours of the day, before the heat gets too sweltering hot, working on Violet's swimming. Violet can't swim yet but we're working on that!

Tuesday through Thursday there are a few movies theaters that offer free or dollar movies at 10 AM. The movies are generally a few years old, which is fine with us, but there are a few that were released last summer. And on Thursdays we can get a bit of "culture" at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston with their free events for families.

On top of all of that, we're also trying to work out a summer visit with one of Violet's cousins (Hi R!). And if that wasn't enough, we're also making plans for Violet's sixth birthday (where has the time gone?). So, Violet and I have a pretty full summer planned ahead of us. Poor Gregg, he has to work all the time but we aren't complaining about that because at least he has a job! Still, he's going to be missing out on a lot of fun. We'll be doing some school work activities so that Violet doesn't lose what she's learned so far (I can hear the groans already) but the structure is much more relaxed. That's our summer, what does yours look like?

Sounds like some fun times! I used to live in Houston... I have to say I'm glad I don't have to figure out how to cool off this summer! :)

It's good to see a post from you. Haven't seen one in a while. And it looks like it's because you're staying so busy with FUN. That's a good thing. :)

Harper could spend every minute of the day in the pool too. It's hot here too. Almost too hot to be doing anything put swimming in the pool. Sounds like you guys are having a fun summer so far!!
