Joan of Ark

I am incredibly blessed to be able to stay home with my precious little girl and homeschool. Don't get me wrong, there are days that are so hard you end up questioning your sanity at the end of the day. Or midday depending on the circumstances. Are we doing the right thing? I believe the answer is a resounding YES!

Violet is learning some amazing things and accomplishing things that I didn't think were possible at such a young age. She is still behind in her reading skills but every child is different and we're trying not to stress over it. Violet's strongest subjects appear to be math and history. Her memory for dates astounds me!

After a long holiday break we started our school work again last week. Violet and I were both ready for the regular routine and to see our friends in our homeschool group. Let me just say this one thing real fast: I LOVE our homeschool curriculum and group! There is not one person in our group who I would not enjoy sitting down with and talking to. We are so fortunate to be members of such a wonderful group of families. We have the same hopes and dreams for our children that every mother and father have, for our children to receive the best education possible and to succeed in life.

One of the components of our homeschool curriculum is doing a weekly presentation on a given topic. Last week's topic was to present something on their favorite history, science, or geography lessons from the previous twelve weeks. Violet's topic of choice was Joan of Ark (you can learn more about her here). I am so proud of Violet! She had some difficulty with her book and a minor distraction but otherwise nailed it. I thought I'd share last week's presentation with you. Enjoy!
