With A Hobbled Walk

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this or not but I've been having some pretty intense pain in my left foot the past few months. I don't remember exactly when it started to bother me but it seems like it was early summer when it began. After having problems walking (read, not being able to put weight on the foot) for a few days, I broke down and went to a podiatrist. That was last month. He told me I have a bone spur and then immediately recommended surgery and nothing else. After being told that I'd have to stay off my foot for a minimum of two weeks, up to four, I had a minor meltdown. Needless to say, a second opinion was in order.

So, with a hobble in my walk I went to an orthopedic surgeon today to have him take a look at my foot. Three options were given to me ~ a steroid/cortisone shot in the joint, a shoe insert to help align my foot in a better position and to take the pressure off the joint, and then surgery. I already feel much better about seeing this doctor.

I was given THE MOST PAINFUL Shot in History today!!! Seriously, it freakin' hurt!!! I can't recommend the shot because I won't know till the end of the weekend whether it worked for me or not but if you want to experience some SERIOUS pain, then heck yeah, get the shot. Also, my doctor gave me a "prescription" (if that's what you'd call it) for the shoe insert. Guess you could say we tried to kill two birds with one stone today.

I really hope the shot does the trick because, even though I'm not a shoe freak, I do enjoy the few shoes I have and don't want to give them up. Yes, that's the least of my worries and maybe I'm a little vain for thinking about it but I can't help myself. I have shoes that are older than my daughter! They have sentimental value to me. Okay, maybe that's a stretch but I think you get my point. Besides, what girl wants to wear ugly shoes? I know I don't. Most importantly though, I hope the shot works and I won't need surgery.

Umm, OWIE! A shot just about anywhere hurts, but in the foot? Uh-uh, no way! :) Hope the insert works wonders for you!

Kimberly ~ OWIE is one way to put it! ;) I haven't been able to get the shoe insert yet but hopefully I'll get it at the first of the week. In the meantime, lots of time being spent w/ my foot elevated.

Hey Kimberly,

This is Cindy, your mom's cat-sitter....

Anyhoo, I wanted to tell you that my niece and her husband are moving to Katy, Texas the end of November. They will be Youth Pastor's at an A/G church there. Any advice on the area? Good sites to look at?

Thanks
Cindy

Cindy,

I'll send an email to my Mom and she can give it to you that way. It'll take a day or two to get it all together. Hope that's okay.

Man, sooooo sorry. That sucks! A friend of mine had to have a cortisone shot in her foot too and her reaction was the same as yours. Not sure if that's a comfort but.... hang in there. How long until they think it will get better with the cortisone?

Glenna ~ I was told that I should know if the shot was going to work by Monday. It was starting to feel some better until someone's little foot landed right on the exact spot my foot was hurting. Yikes! That was yesterday. So, I'm hobbling around again and praying that this is just a minor setback.

I hope the shot works so it will be worth all the pain!! I hope you feel better soon.

Jen ~ Thanks! I'm going to give it another few days before I call the doctor. I figured with the little set back that I should give it some more time.
