Cherished Moments
We had a wonderful visit with my Mom (aka Mimi P.) this past weekend. She flew down early for a business trip so that we could have some time together. It was a wonderful visit, one that we were blessed to have. My parents live in Arkansas, so we don't get to see them as often as we'd like which made this visit all the more special.
Violet was counting the days (much like I was) until my Mom arrived. Everyday she'd ask, "Is she coming today?". It was sad having to tell her, "No, not today." On Saturday Violet couldn't contain her excitement when we asked her, "Are you ready to go pick up you Mimi?". She was SO excited! And I must admit, I was feeling the same way too.
We've done all sorts of things in just a few days. We visited Build-A-Bear Workshop, where Violet used her own piggy-bank money to purchase an adorable kitty (that she named Lynnie) and Mimi bought a sweet little outfit for it. We went out to eat several times (which my Mom swears is not a reflection on how I cook) and I got to feed her an amazing pot roast one night! And we went to the Houston Zoo (where the above photo was taken). The sweetest moments though were just spending time with one another. Mom read to Violet her bedtime stories and we watched TV (the Olympics) and movies together. Every moment a special one to be cherished.
I'll share more of our visit with my Mom in the next few days when I have time. I really must get Violet and I back on our regular schedule though. School work has taken a back seat for a few days and we have to get back on track. Violet is starting to make progress with her phonics (reading) and I don't want to lose the momentum that we had going. Still, I can't think of a better reason than a special visit from family to take off from school for a few days.

Hi there--
I volunteer at the Houston Zoo as a docent and write for their website's blog (as well as my own animal one).
I love reading other blogs, and am especially glad to hear when people have come to the zoo and had it enrich them. In this case, sounds like you had a very special family day. I'm so glad!
Hope you all come back often... there's several animals expecting babies and so much new stuff going on!
I'm so glad you had a wonderful visit with your mom. What a special time especially for Violet. I look forward to reading more. :)
AAAAhhhhh, that's so sweet! Glad you had such a wonderful visit.
I didn't know you blogged. Small blogsphere. : )
Thanks for the pictures.
