Crazies!

Traffic. It's one of the evils that you have to deal with when you live in a big city. I hate it but I manage my way through it. Some days, most people cooperate with one another and the traffic is fine, moving along at a nice pace. Then there are days when you're left scratching your head, wondering who let all the crazies out at the same time. I don't deal well with the crazies. They scare me and tick me off all in a matter of seconds. You know the type! They'll whiz past you, and every other normal person on the road doing the speed limit, like you're sitting still and it's obvious they're going at least 30 miles over the speed limit. Then, there's the person in a massive SUV/truck (that should qualify as a small island on wheels) who thinks the "sweet spot" in traffic is right on your tush! And they don't care whether you have a small child in the car or that they're making you nervous, they're happy where they're at and that's where they intend to stay. You can tap on your breaks or even move over a lane to let them pass, but NOOOOO, they like being a pain in the tush while they ride yours!!! Grrrrr.

The worst of the crazies are the ones who actually think the road belongs to them, therefore you better get out of their way or they'll mow you down.
Missed a turn? No problem, let me back up on this lovely freeway so that I can get to it!!! Does that sign say "One Way"? Well, that doesn't apply to me! I can go down that way if I want to and as fast as I can! Hope some kid doesn't decide to walk off that sidewalk because I ain't stopping! Who does this person think they are driving this way, taking up all the street? Don't they know the ONE WAY sign doesn't apply to me? I'm SPECIAL and get to do whatever the heck I want!!!

Yeah, the crazy people!!! I had a lot of errands to run yesterday and was in the car for the greater part of the day. Three stores, two malls, delivered a meal on the other side of town. I was in the car a lot yesterday and my nerves are shot as a result of it. I came across a lot of crazy people. Most were on the freeways but there were quite a few in the parking lots too. Seriously, what's the rush folks? Are those few extra seconds worth risking your life, and the lives of everyone else you come in contact with while on the road? Slow the heck down!!!

Now, I'm not saying I'm a perfect driver. Ha, I'm nowhere near that mark. But I do try to drive courteously. I always give people some space between their car and mine and would appreciate the same courtesy from the person who's driving behind me. You may want to jeopardize your life but I have precious cargo in my backseat and I don't take too kindly to someone putting her life at risk. And if you're a dumb enough wise-@ss that will follow me to a gas station just to chew me out for not driving faster (when I was already driving five over the speed limit), then you better be prepared to get an ear full from me yourself. Not to mention having a picture of your license plate taken and then the police called on you!

Is there an echo in here? I was just telling someone the other day about how sick I am of the people who drive like I used to drive. Yeah, I was one of them, I'm ashamed to say. If you got in my way, I'd get close enough to your rear bumper to able to change your radio station for you.

I've since slowed down (way, way down) and it doesn't really take any longer to get where I'm going. Well, I'm sure it takes 3 or 4 extra minutes on a trip from one side of Dallas to the other, but who doesn't have an extra couple of minutes?

Now I just laugh when I see the morons whose blood pressure is skyrocketing, trying to save an extra second or two. I really laugh when they floor their accelerators to squeeze by me, and always immediately have to brake very hard, to keep from rearending someone. For some reason it seems to annoy them when they see me laughing at them.

Myocardia ~ thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. and thank you for slowing down on the road and leaving the ranks of the "crazies". lol. a friend recently told me that someone gave her the "peace" sign after the she laid on her horn and yelled at them ~ it totally deflated her and made her feel guilty for getting upset in the first place. i thought that was pretty brilliant! lol.

Haha, that's one more finger than I usually see people displaying as they drive on the roads around here.

I seem to remember a time long ago when a Texas Highway Patrolman told me he didn't know those things would go that fast When I asked him what things, he replied those Dodge Colts I chased you daughter half way from Red Hill to Linden at close to a hundred to catch her. Guess who her was? We seem to get wiser if we live long enough.

Touche Daddy! But in all fairness to me, there was no one else on the road but me and that DPS officer. lol. :D

And to think, I just read today in a magazine that women drivers in Texas were the safest drivers in the U.S. Ha! ;)
