Imagine
It is amazing, and breathtaking, to see wildlife in the burbs. I saw a beautiful hawk sitting on a speed limit sign on a major road today. The family and I were heading home after paying a visit to Wal-Mart. I wish I could have gotten a photo but couldn't get to my camera in time. So, you're going to have to use your imagination. Imagine a beautiful hawk sitting on a 65 MPH sign, with cars whizzing by, observing us like a king on it's throne.

Glass

While visiting my parents my Mom and I braved the art glass exhibit with Violet in tow. We wove our way through the exhibit faster than we would have liked but long enough to appreciate the beauty that was before us. Violet was getting antsy near the end and we had visions of the valuable glass being broken to bits at her hands. Some of the glass in the exhibit were by Tiffany and Dale Chihuly. I cannot begin to describe how beautiful some of the glass pieces were. If I could only use one word to describe the glass art it would be... breathtaking.

As much as I appreciate Tiffany glass my favorite pieces were by Chihuly. His works are incredibly thin and translucent. It's amazing what a person can do with heat and silica (sand, flint, or quartz). It amazes me that someone thought to put those elements together and created glass in the first place! And that someone looked at those elements and thought, "Hey, I can create art with these!" just astounds me.

Santa Came To Town
"Mommy, come look! Presents!" That was the sound I woke up to this morning. Man, was it worth all the work (that Gregg did) last night. Violet was so excited to wake up and find presents under her tree. Violet was ecstatic to find a kitchen just for her next to the tree. She has been playing with her kitchen and her pots and pans all day, making something new to eat every few minutes. I can only imagine what culinary delights she'll conjure up in the next few days.
Enjoy you kitchen baby girl. Have fun pretending to cook because before too long you'll be cooking for real.

It's All About Imagination
We are finally done with our Christmas shopping for Violet. It seems like we've turned this Christmas into a bit of a theme. Imagination. Violet will be receiving a play kitchen, cookware, and food to go with it all. She's also getting an adorable dress-up outfit.
The "imagination theme" was by accident, I assure you. I didn't even realize that we had done this until we brought everything home and was looking at all the goodies. Even with the theme, I can't wait for Violet to wake up and find her gifts under (and beside) our tree. She is SO going to enjoy having a play kitchen! Violet always gravitates to them whenever she sees one and is quick to cook something up. I look forward to savoring the culinary delights that she cooks up.

Noodles!
Earlier today Violet came up to me and informed me that she was cooking. I asked her what she was making for lunch and she proudly announced that she was cooking noodles. Violet told me she'd let me know when lunch was ready. Seconds later Violet showed me a little play pan that was filled with colored shoe laces and said, "Noodles are ready!" As I looked in her little pan I realized that Violet had "fixed" something that decidedly looked like colored noodles. We have a very creative little girl.
