The Scent of Motherhood

It's rather interesting how a certain scent can take you back in time, remind you of a loved one, relax you or wake you up. Every time I catch the scent of a certain perfume (I forgot the name of it) it always reminds me of my mother. I could be in a crowded mall, or some other place, and catch a whiff of that perfume and be instantly transported back to my childhood.

Chanel #5 always reminds me of my great-grandmother. That is another scent from my childhood. I remember my great-grandmother telling me one day as she was putting on her perfume, "Kimberly, it only takes a small dab of perfume to make the impression that you want to make. This is one area where less is definitely more." She was so right!

After thinking on these things the other night I began to wonder what scent would remind Violet of me. I think it'll be the scent of lavender & vanilla. My wonderful sister-in-law, Deanna, introduced me to this amazing scent a few years ago as a gift for my birthday. I fell instantly in love with this scent and cannot seem to get enough of it.

I generally put on the lavender/vanilla scent after a bath to let it soak into my wet skin. I love when I put this scent on because it's very relaxing to me. I also love to wear it because whenever I put it on Violet curls up in my lap and we get alot of cuddle time. I think she loves it as much as I do.

Ever since Violet was old enough to bathe with the Johnson & Johnson lavender baby wash and lotion we have been faithful users of those products. I truly believe that that is the scent of heaven! After Violet's baths, I always pick her up and just breathe in the scent of her. It truly is a heavenly scent and I'll bathe her in these products for as long as she'll allow us to.

BTW, I know I misspelled Chanel #5 in this post. Once I caught the mistake it was too late to correct it. Sorry. I did warn you though that I'm not a great speller or writer.... just trying to do my best :~)
